About Hip Mom Jeana:

I was born and raised in Nebraska and attended college at the University of Kansas where I received my B.A. in Music Education.  While working on my Masters degree, I began teaching orchestra classes in Topeka Public Schools.  In 1996 I moved to Maryland and taught for Fairfax County Schools in Virginia until 1999.  Since then I has been busy with my family which includes husband Tom and our kids, Carolyn & Connor.  I continue to teach privately, conduct orchestra workshops and clinics, and volunteer in the local schools.   I am a member of MOPS of Damascus, Mt. Airy PATH, and the American String Teachers Association.

Julie and I met in 1980 at school in Omaha, Nebraska while attending Millard Public Schools.  In January 2004, the idea came about to create a place for Moms online and market their favorite Mom-made products.  July 2004 we launched the chat forums, and the community grows each day.

About Hippie Mom Julie:

I was born in Fargo but have never lived in North Dakota ~ however, I have lived in MN, CO, SD and NE, which is where I met Jeana in school in 1980.

I attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where I earned a B.A. in Education.  In 1992 moved to NJ to spend a year as a Nanny... but after meeting Eric in 1995, made the choice to stay.

Since the arrival of my son Andrew, I left classroom teaching for diaper duty ~ cloth of course J
Though I don't consider myself excessively "crunchy", we do co-sleep, practice extended breastfeeding and babywearing.  I am an active member of my local HMN (Holistic Moms Network) in Northern NJ.

In January 2004, during one of those "of one mind" mornings, Jeana and I  envisioned a home for moms on the web where those who are WAHMs could sell their items and moms from all walks of life could come together for support and encouragement from one another.

Thanks for being part of the wonderful community that is growing to be such an important part of the lives of so many moms!

And yes, I am always more verbose than Jeana... though not as always as well spoken!
